I chose the colour blue with a lot of greyish white tones. To me, it represents a desolation and a cold heart, immense lonesomeness, and a tranquility and peace that it brings.
Selected quotes that inspired this painting from the novel Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr:
Clutching the silk-smooth wood of the Winter Queen's staff - [she] walked out of her cottage and into the shadow of the barren trees.
As if she had always done so, [the Winter Queen] tapped the staff as she walked the earth, sending freezing fingers into the soil, the first taste of the winter that would soon follow.
Silently [she] stepped onto the now-frozen surface of the river. She tilted her face to the gray sky and opened her mouth. Winds shrieked from her lips; icicles gathered on the metal of the bridge.
As quietly as the snow falling around her, [the Winter Queen] turned back to the frozen night and skated across the river, spilling her handful of snow like glitter on the ice.
Wow, that's just lovely...or maybe i should say beautiful. Well, either way, it looks great. I love the shading on her dress and the glow around the staff.

ive said it before and i'll say it again. you do a really fantastic job of depth in your pieces. what is weird about it is that you dont only have the distance to blur ratio correct, but you have the distance to size to blur triratio damn near perfect. every thing is just scaled and blurred so perfect for their given distance it makes it feel more organic and 3 dimensional.
one thing i dont like is the water mark haha...im telling you, get yourself a signature and i will vectorize it for you to put on the base of all your work. dont worry about work copyright and stuff, just as long as you tag your name at the base of the image it is as much watermark you will want to have. any piece as clean as this should not be scarred by something as ugly as a giant watermark.

Somehow you always seem to catch onto something... and yes, the loneliness was definitely important in this illustration. Partly because the character herself is all alone, and secondly because I happen to feel a bit lonely myself. So thanks for the thoughtful comment!

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.

but you could've made the moon a little more blurry to draw more attention to the Queen
